The 35 parallel (south)

Airport strike. We landed on Monday morning but couldn't leave the plane because there were no stairs. After 11 hours on that plane there were no stairs to walk down. Then the stairs came. But no bus to take us to the terminal. A bus came but only the business class passengers got to deplane. Thank god for corporate travel. We were met by an escort and expedited through customs...I like travelling with my boss, bulletproof cars, no lines and people to carry my bags. They really take care of me these latin men, doors are opened, my hand is held as I exit the van and my glass of wine is always full (please refrain from making comments)

Yesterday we partied it up and watched an amazing Tango show. I was mesmerized, they were absolutely breathtaking, I felt as thought I was being let into a secret world, during some parts I actually blushed from watching the subtle sensuality. I could have stayed all night. I was tired this morning. Fortunately we spent the afternoon on a field trip with the Argentinian sales force so we got out into the fresh air and I managed to charge 85 pesos of competitor's candy onto my corporate card at a local Wal Mart Supercentre.

Winter in Argentina isn't that cold, although apparently its 'unseasonably warm' right now. Its 15 or so degrees...I keep laughing at all the people with their scarfs and wool coats.

The agenda is packed...I almost feel like I'm back at an AIESEC conference...except for the 2 hour pre dinner working break I'm currently experiencing. I'm presenting tomorrow, I feel like I should be running around in the OC office, but we finished everything weeks ago...its a strange feeling being ready so far in advance.

So I'm alive and well and made it to Buenos Aires okay, I'm reachable via my work cell phone only, the other one doesn't work outside the US. I'll be back home on Saturday morning. Cheers!

Its a boy!!

After waiting and waiting for the phone to ring with a special message it finally happened and its a boy. A real one. The first baby addition to the Toronto clan affectionately known as VDs has arrived. Congrats you two, I couldn't have wished for a better two to try out this parent thing before the rest of us.

Poonam's been blogging. Check out her observations of her last weeks of being prego.
Poonam's blog. I'm looking for her postings to continue once she's settled in a bit as a new mom.

The hostesses with the mostes

Dorota showed me how hosting a barbeque is really done over the weekend. I happily prepared appy's and bought beer, but was no match for the party prepping of my friend and carpool mate.

I can't wait until the next one. (Keep a weekend in mid/end July free, any conflicts, speak now)

Vegas baby!!

the girls

Last weekend. The deal is that I had a blast. It was a good break and really felt like a vacation and not simply a couple days away. Almost a reunion of the Mexico trip of 1999. A stag for a friend, I hadn't done that since Poonam's and this time I was older, more wise. I arrived on Thursday night at 1am. By 2 I had joined my friends at the club - it was like that the whole weekend. Guys from Ohio, ex's new flames, the tasks from the hat, random VIP, foot massages, pool pickups, booty shaking..all of it was good times.

Vegas lived up to its reputation, I didn't gamble too much but came out ahead when some guy paid me $100 for the blue hat at 4am. Not too bad. It was great to see the girls, it felt as though no time had passed - just like being on 2nd floor again. Leaving on Sunday was tough. I felt really lonely flying back to Newark all alone when the rest of them got on a flight to Vancouver. It really made my life here seem surreal.

Good Luck Sherry...can't wait until the wedding!!

Batteries not included

Its been awhile since I last blogged. I'm not exactly sure why. For the first time in a long time there are things going on in my life that I don't feel like sharing. I'm not sure I want these questions and experiences out there for everyone to see, for everyone to comment on. I am doing well. I had a great weekend with Amit. Yes I'm still single. No I don't know what the deal is with us. I'm going to Vegas this weekend for Sherry's stag. It'll be my first time there. I'm looking forward to it and to being back in my university mode again. Its been awhile since I've really hung out with those girls. I have my real nails back again and they look great. The little things are making me happy right now. My curtains, my brita, my shower. I'm unhappy that I just don't know, that I have doubts - shouldn't it all just fit. Maybe one day I'll stop believing in the fairy tale.
