ZONDER!!
So I'm in Rotterdam. Somehow I made it here on June 30th after being yelled at by ViaRail, having to repack my bags at Dorval airport, a Belgian train strike leaving my reception 'officer' 3 hours away and smiling at cute boys to help me lift my bags onto the train at Schiphol.
After two weeks in this beautiful country, I've decided to call myself an expert on Dutch culture. Here just a few of my observations thus far:
- The Dutch drink alot of beer. But this beer usually comes out of small glasses. In order to get a pint you have to order a BIG beer...or go to an Irish pub.
- Pink tights have made a comeback in the Netherlands
- They do not sell flavoured vodka in bars in Rotterdam
- You can buy bubble tea in the Netherlands!!! (This makes for a very happy Asha)
- There are NO shops open after 8pm :(, the only thing open are bars.
- There is a ton of ethnic diversity in Rotterdam, I'm beginning to there aren't anymore blond people here :)
- The toilets are different...I don't know how to explain it, they're not really bowls, they kinda have these shelf/plateau things..I can't really explain it.
At least I like it here so far...
