NO MORE EXCUSES...

Study surprise: alcohol boosts good judgment

Tuesday, May 27, 2003

People who drink too much and blame their irresponsible behaviour on alcohol will have to find a new excuse, following a study by researchers.

Alcohol may actually lead people to be more cautious in their decisions rather than impulsive, according to a surprise finding by psychologists at Queen's University in Kingston, Ont.

HOME SWEET HOME

I miss Vancouver!!! I'm going through withdrawl. Maybe its the weather, maybe its Toronto, maybe its because I haven't seen the ocean in almost six months, its probably because I have NO idea when I'm going to get to see it all again..

Okay, okay, I'm being a little over dramatic, alot home sick, but a only a little over dramatic...

THE END BEFORE THE END...

NLDC 2003...our turnover conference, two MCs coming together to pass the torch from one year to the next (in front of the whole country, so they know whats going on)

How did the conference go?

It was AMAZING, the delegates were great (on time, participating, everything an MC member wants to see ;)), the sessions were on the money, the parties..well, its AIESEC, so of course the parties were good.

For me and my team, these past two weeks have been invaluable. We had the conference we deserved, time to reflect and spend together without any external factors (except the new team, of course). Seeing all 6 of us turn into big saps during the closing plenary was interesting, I felt that all year we kept our emotions away from our membership and for a short, 10 minute moment they all got a window into our year and our personalities, I'm really going to miss these guys...

Its weird now, being back in the office after already saying all my goodbyes...it was an incomplete ending...

5 more weeks until Rotterdam...

ZHENIA'S QUOTE OF THE DAY...

wine is good, wine is good, wine is good...

4 GIRLS, 3 DAYS, 1 CITY. NEW YORK CITY.

Last Thursday at around 7pm Candice, Cynthia, Zhenia and I got into a car and left the confines of Toronto with one objective...to head to a city without a Canadian LC.

After a ten or so hour drive, with only two wrong turns under our belts, we arrived in Brooklyn at 4:30am on Friday morning. 75 hours later, exhausted and drained, we got back in to our wonderful rental car and headed back up to TO.

Normally when you think of a weekend in NYC a number of different scenarios come to mind...we didn't do ANY of that stuff. In fact, here's what we DIDN'T do this weekend:

* Go up the Empire State building * See the Statue of Liberty * See a Broadway play * Watch the taping of a TV show * Shop at FAO Schwartz * Try on clothes at Saks Fifth Avenue * Eat in Little Italy * Buy designer knock-off purses in Chinatown * Go to a museum (ANY museum) * Visit the Bronx Zoo

Since we weren't busy doing all of that, we had PLENTY of time to get into trouble...between the straight tequila margaritas (thanks for taking us to that place Rickesh!!), the DISGUSTING, yet free, brazilian liquor at the club, the WORST chinese restaurant
Cynthia's ever been to (hehe!!), insensitive song singing and OBNOXIOUS subway rides I'm surprised we made it through unharmed. (For further detail check out Candice's Top Ten List!)

Thank you Gautam and Dee for hosting us (and for adding a little drama into the mix) and to Rickesh, TJ and
Owais for keeping us company!!

Give me a day or two and you'll see more pictures!!
